The original backpackers - Sydney
Well I've been here for a few days, settled in to the hostel. Its good place to start as they have stuff organized every night if you want to go out. On Friday they hadf a 5 dollar (about 2.5GBP) barbecue, then we went on to a local pub where they a live band were on (photo's at http://www.timgarbutt.com/photos).
Been down to the botanical gardens to chill out and get over the jetlag, saw loads of wildlife including flying foxes (bats I think? Martyn from Siemens will know!) hanging from the tree; obviously I felt compelled to take photos.
Also been down to the centre of Sydney along George street which is the main road for shops and businesses etc.
Well that's all for now, of to go and get my tax number so I can work (not for a while yet!).

Good to see that 27 hours on a plane has not reduced your ability to take photos and post them on the internet.
Life is quite but frosty here, Steve G has gone to Florida.
Good luck, look forward to seeing the photos of the adventures down under.

Great stuff mate, I know where you're staying, have walked past there! Nice area but plenty close enough to the debauchery of King's Cross!
I'm just sitting here reminiscing about when I was backpacking Oz, carefree, adventurous, drunken, ahhh memories!
As it is i'm in Aberystwyth working day and night on essays about the UK energy crisis, reminding me that I live in a bloody cold country and will bloody well know about it if the lights go out this winter!
Right, off to lectures.

Well, I thought as soon as that alcoholic bird from eastenders collapsed on "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here", Tim would have been straight in there as a replacement.
What do we get instead, Cannon & Ball !!!
Eaten any wriggling jungle food yet, or is it all beer and kebabs like manchester ?
